For years organic gardeners have recognised the benefits of using mulching to cover the soil with composted material. Mulches are particularly effective under trees, shrubs, flowers, fruit, rose beds and borders.
Trees, shrubs, plants and vegetables all thrive when they are planted in fertile, free draining soil that’s full of humus.
Adding MUCKERS MULCH regularly to your soil will improve its structure, moisture retention and drainage. The high temperature composting process we use to produce the mulch de-odourises and sterilises it making it completely free from weeds, seeds and pests which are often present in ‘standard’ composts.
Dry, sandy or stony soils have two main problems – low fertility and an inability to retain moisture. Simply dig in a 10mm layer of MUCKERS MULCH at any time of year and its bulky organic matter will help both the physical structure of the soil as well as its ability to retain moisture during the dry summer months.
If your garden has heavy, compacted clay soil improving its structure is key to optimising plant growth. MUCKERS MULCH has the perfect mixture of organic materials to help bind soil particles with drainage pores in between – encouraging worm and microbial activity to produce the required crumb structure in the soil.
MUCKERS MULCH also significantly improves clay soil by making it less sticky and prone to compaction. Add a 25mm layer to the surface and either dig in - or let the worms and microbes do the job for you.
Most mulches rob the soil of nitrogen during the breakdown process but thanks to its unique formula the nutrients in MUCKERS MULCH are released slowly into the soil to feed plants and suppress weeds.
Made in Shropshire to an original formula created by C W Denham MUCKERS MULCH is extremely economical to use and available in 40 litre bags or loose.
