Worm Composts vary depending on the organic materials used in the recycling process. MONTFORD MUCK’s Worm Compost uses earth worms to create beautifully rich 100% recycled, highly fertile, crumbly compost from organic wastes.
Pure worm casts are regarded as the world’s richest natural plant food and can be used in plant pots, window boxes, hanging baskets and indoor plant containers. Depending on the application and nutrition levels they are proven to boost plant growth by 40-50%.
The pure worm casts we use are rich in water-retaining humus, bacteria, fungi as well as other micro-organisms which are vital for healthy soil. They can be used as a soil conditioner, a feed or as an ingredient in potting mixtures. A base of soil or loam must be used to stabilise plants in containers.
Use worm casts for increased growth by:-
• Sprinkling them into seed drills before sowing
• Raking them into seed beds to improve texture and nutrients
• Adding them to planting holes when transporting vegetables
• Mixing them into soil when planting fruit trees and bushes
When applied as top dressing worm casts provide dramatic results for:-
• ‘Greedy feeders’ - e.g. marrows - during the growing season
• Established trees and shrubs in need of a boost
• Window boxes, hanging baskets or patio pots
